Bass Strait is the sea-road to Tasmania.
The route is operated by two superfast ships, Spirit
of Tasmania I and II . These vessels offer an overnight
service in both directions between Melbourne and Devonport
seven days a week, year round, with additional services
in peak periods.
Spirit of Tasmania The Spirit of Tasmania. Spirit I
and II ferry services travel between Station Pier in
Port Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast.
You can travel in the familiar comfort
of your own vehicle.
The superfast 29,000 tonne Spirit of Tasmania
I and II have more than 700 births (220 cabins) and
make nightly crossings in both directions, leaving at
2000 (8pm) and arriving at 0700. Additional sailings
are scheduled in peak periods, with a daytime sailing
in both directions leaving at 0900 and arriving at 1800
(6pm).
On these days the night departure is 2100
(9pm) arriving at 0600. Standard vehicles travel on
the ships for only AU79 one way. For further details

operate frequent services to Tasmania. There are direct
flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Launceston and
Hobart, from Brisbane to Hobart, from Adelaide to Hobart,
and from Melbourne to Devonport, Burnie and King Island.

King Island. Airlines of Tasmania operates services
to Flinders Island.
Note for airline travellers: As of Wednesday, 13th
September, Virgin Blue check-in and arrivals areas at
Hobart Airport will be relocated to the international
terminal. The international terminal is about 100 metres
to the left of the domestic terminal. During upgrading
of facilities designed to significantly improve services
to arriving and departing travellers, those departing
the airport should arrive 30 minutes before their airline's
check-in deadline.
Shuttle bus TassiLink coaches meet every overnight
sailing of Spirit of Tasmania I and II. Telephone: 1300
653 633 for details. Tasmania also has bus and
coach service. Tassielink has the easist site to access

and is Hobart to Devonport or Devonport to Hobart. Devonport
(7.45am) -Via Launceston to Hobart (12.00pm) approx
$30 per person (pls check all details and times). Contact
